FOR RELEASE Monday, October 9, 2006
PLANO, Texas and SEOUL, South Korea – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that Meerecompany, a South Korean mid-sized manufacturer of LCD/semiconductor equipment, has selected UGS’ Solid Edge® and Teamcenter® Express as its first PLM system.
Solid Edge is the CAD component and Teamcenter Express is the collaborative product data management (cPDM) component of the new UGS Velocity SeriesTM portfolio, the industry’s first comprehensive, preconfigured portfolio of digital product design, analysis, manufacturing and data management software for the PLM mid-market. UGS Velocity Series portfolio also includes Femap™ and NX™ CAM Express.
Meerecompany selected Velocity Series products after a careful and detailed evaluation of several PLM solutions. Key selection factors were design productivity, assembly manipulation and functionality for drafting and ease of multi-CAD data management. Previously, Meerecompany did not have a systematic approach to managing data which caused delays and inefficiencies. The company recognized that the successful evolution from 2D to 3D CAD could not be achieved without efficient PDM due to the increased complexity.
“We were seeking 3D CAD to improve our design capability to meet our customer needs to market innovative products faster than our competitors,” said Jae Yun Yoo, vice president, Meerecompany. “To do that it was also critical to find a data management system that could manage our CAD data from separate systems efficiently. Solid Edge and Teamcenter Express met these requirements and as UGS Velocity Series products, they provide speed and ease of implementation, which adds further value.”
“Selection of UGS Velocity Series by Meerecompany reaffirms UGS’ commitment to help mid-sized manufacturing companies develop a PLM strategy,” said KR Kwon, vice president of Korea Operations, UGS. “The Velocity Series portfolio provides a digital design environment that fosters innovation through the implementation of preconfigured processes based on the industry’s best practices. This enables rapid deployment with a low cost of ownership.”
In order to help accelerate PLM capabilities amongst mid-market manufacturers in Asia Pacific, UGS formed the Velocity Series Consortium with HP and Intel. The Consortium is dedicated to the development of solutions and services helping manufacturers reduce costs and minimize barriers to innovation. For more information, visit vsconsortium.net.
